Bosnia's former Ambassador to the United Nations Muhamed Sacirbey, has been
released from prison after posting $6 million bail.Mr. Sacirbey was in the core of the happenings while war was raging in Bosnia, balancing in-between local hawks and international scavengers shoving up as one of few human face to the world, talking language I don't mean his English but his frank and open and humane rhetoric, who probably saved more fellow citizens by his public appearance than the rest of world did. Mr. Sacirbey was the lightning conductor who has channelled the global concern which, in no small measure, has enabled Bosnia to survive in the teeth of fearful adversity. Mr. Sacirbey was the one who insisted that Bosnia bring its case against the former Yugoslavia for genocide at the International Court of Justice in The Hague. He pushed for the tribunals, and resisted attempts to make amnesty for war criminals part of the peace process at Dayton and elsewhere. So I speculate this man is discredited and criminalized 'cause he simply knows to much, if he opens his mouth heads would roll, prominent local and international bureaucrats could be stripped of their functions and discredited. But now who would trust his words since he has allegedly depleted $1.8 million from an account controlled by his government's investment fund ministry. Luckily this case is still not lost, one who might ask Mr. Sacirbey to speak up is the International Court of Justice in The Hague at least we can hope it will.
